4 Survival Shelters and How to Build Them

Its important to know at least a few survival shelters in case you need them. These basic shelters are easy to make and take less than an hour to build. Heres a list of  4 shelters.

Shelters

  1. Stick against tree shelter- This shelter is just a bunch of very small logs and sticks against a tree and insulation on top. Gather 20-30 small logs about 2-3 inches in diameter and start putting them against a tree. Next find sticks and put them on the logs. finally find insulation (leaves, moss, grass, etc,) and start putting on top until you can’t see through the insulation.
  2. Leaf hut- This is a small hut that requires no materials outside the woods and should be able to fit you and your gear. Find a tree with a u shaped curve 3 or 4 feet of the ground. Get a pole that’s about 5 feet long and put the end of it in the u shape curve. Next start putting sticks on either side of the pole until you have a good wall. Then start getting branches with leaves and put on top. Gather a ton of leaves until you can’t see through.
  3. Lean to- This is one of the most popular designs. And takes little time to build. Find 2 trees about 4 feet apart with a u shape curves. To start wedge a pole between the 2 trees in the u curve. Find enough poles to be able to put on the entire length of the pole you wedged between the trees. Next put insulation on top and you are done.
  4. A frame tarp shelter- This shelter is easy to build in about 10 minutes and provides protectoin from the rain. Find 2 trees and tie paracord between them. Put a tarp over the paracord and find small strong sticks to use a stakes. Use a knife to carve the end to a sharpe point and put in the ground. Finally pin down the bottom of the tarp with the stakes.

Well, that’s 4 survival shelters and how to build them. Any questions or suggestions? Post them in the comments
